<image:caption>ooluroo is an interactive digital signage installation for wayfinding in indoor public locations. The aesthetic is that of extreme minimalism, which is difficult to achieve at this scale. As the lead engineer during frog's engagement with the client, I was responsible for identifying technology, vendors, and manufacturers. In addition I created all of the final exterior CAD and designed the internal architecture. We partnered with a manufacturer for final DFM and I oversaw this handoff.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Work - Mobile Pay</image:title>
<image:caption>Created for the "Merchant Services" group of Bank of America in 2012, the Mobile Pay credit card reader was designed for used by small business owners who may not be particularly tech savvy. At the time, "square" was becoming trendy, but did not function very well. Users expressed frustrations at missed swipes, requiring them to enter numbers manually and pay a higher processing fee. Through research it was determined the main cause of misreads was that square had no stabilizing mechanism, and was too short to keep cards sliding straight. While this created a sleek design, it's function was too compromised for the Mobile Pay target audience. The BoA mobile reader was designed to fix that. I was the lead engineer at frog working in conjunction with an OEM chosen by the client. We worked through dozens of designs until we settled on the fins, which are made out of nylon to allow for massive deflections. A major challenge was that this device had to work on future thinner phones without a case (while still remaining steady) and current thick phones with an otterbox. This could be anywhere in the range of 5mm - 15mm+ of thickness. In addition, headphone jack locations are not standardized but instead located centered, left/right justified, and some even end up closer to the front/back of the phone. The reader had to be designed to not only work in these instances, but not look as if it was upside-down or flipped.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Work - Waytap</image:title>
<image:caption>Fizzics' Waytap is a beer conditioner: it makes your beer taste amazing. Fizzics came to us with a product that had been fairly successful on the market. They had a $250k crowdfunding campaign and their product was selling well. However they were having issues with how their product was perceived. The initial product could make your beer taste great but it was clunky looking and had several pain points during use. frog helped create a sleeker, smaller product. Operation only requires one hand, and although the new product is less expensive it incorporates many more solid-metal components than the original. The redesigned product made over $1MM on kickstarter, $2MM on Sharktank, and is now sold in major retailers around the country. I worked on all aspects of this project including research, experience design, industrial design, and mechanical engineering. I laid out all part breaks and major internal components, and transitioned the final production development to the internal engineering team at Fizzics.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Work - OB-1 Multitool</image:title>
<image:caption>Back in 2013 my good friend Matt Bores, my brother Eric, and I wanted to create a kickstarter. We ended up with the OB-1 multitool. OB-1 combines 14 different features into a simple, lightweight titanium component carried on your keychain. Mainly meant as a tool for tightening loose nuts and bolts, it is no bigger than a key and can pass TSA restrictions. I was responsible for the design and engineering of the tool, vendor management, packaging design, and setting up the kickstarter campaign. I worked in conjunction with my team members on ideation, campaign management, and fulfillment. The OB-1 was successfully funded, sold over 300 units, and was featured on many websites including Design Milk, Design Boom, Gear Hungry, and Materialicious.  </image:caption>
